Progress continues at Bethel. Having slept there eleven nights now, I am settling in quite nicely. Most of the boxes have been unpacked. All of the laminate flooring is down, and most of the furniture is in place. Resting places have been found for most of my plethora of books and dishes.
With close neighbors, getting my windows covered has been a big concern, but I couldn't stand hanging sheets on the windows. Because the windows will be replaced as soon as someone is available to do the work, I am not buying blinds just yet. God has met this need in several ways. My daughter sent me some curtains that she and I had used in our MS homes. It is fun to have these pieces of my past in this new home. I purchased pretty curtains for my bedroom with a gift card from Bed Bath and Beyond.
I wanted lace panels or crushed voile sheers for the living room, but was hesitant to buy them. Imagine my surprise and delight when I opened a box and discovered unopened packages of crushed voile panels! Apparently I purchased them before Jimmy died, but never used them. I had no idea they existed. What a blessing!
Nothing has changed as far as the bathrooms or ceramic tile flooring, but I believe that will be coming soon. There is now sufficient electricity in the kitchen to run the stove, microwave, and refrigerator, but there still are no lights, sink, or cabinets. One thing at a time...
The biggest development this week was having the flooring installed in my office. That allowed me to get the furniture in place and begin to get organized. There is still a lot to do in that regard, but I have had wonderful help from friends. At last count over 40 people have helped with this house in one way or another.
Each day is an adventure as I discover things that have been packed away for three years. I am physically exhausted, but blissfully happy and content. God continues to bless in ways that astound me. He is such a loving and personal God as He meets needs and answers even the unspoken prayers of my heart. I remain gratefully and totally His.
On another note, there have been over one thousand views of this blog in the few weeks of its existence! Unbelievable! Thank you for the love and support you have shown in so many ways. Bethel's door will always be open to you. Come in and see what God has done!
You had me crying on this one! So excited for you woman and man how I wish I could come to your new home and visit and even help in some way!
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at the comment about the boxed up crushed voile sheers. That sounds like me if it is out of sight it is out of mind these days. Although I am feeling much much better now thanx to prayers and the wisdom of my female Dr. She listens to me!!!
Oh man how exciting and I know you ARE tired but excited to. So many emotions! I can't wait to see those pix and to hear that kitchen is ALL finished and you're cooking for some one. lol
