The Redemption of a House

Bountiful Blessings

I have been very touched by your supportive comments here at the blog and elsewhere. Thank you so much!

God continues to provide in unexpected ways. Last week I made a list of items to ask Him for and trust Him to provide at low or no cost. This week I was blessed to purchase several of those items at give-away prices from a friend who is selling practically everything in her house due to serious downsizing. I bought a comfy chair in exactly the right color, two nice bookcases, five trendy lamps, other needed items, and a few things just for fun. What an answer to prayer! Rene is even allowing me to use a family heirloom rocking chair so that she doesn't have to store it. And the bookcases... Another friend had already spoken for them, but when she learned that I needed them she and her husband generously decided to let me have them instead. Thanks, Angela!

Later, God blessed again with a beautiful free sofa from Rene! My formal antique living room furniture isn't very comfortable, so this is a special blessing. It will go in the sunroom where I can lounge, read, and watch the birds in my backyard as I relax in the lap of luxury. God bless you, Rene!

At the top of my wish list were a washer and dryer. My best MI friend, Diane, took me appliance shopping last Friday, and I was thrilled to be able to purchase nice Maytag laundry appliances at discount prices. Though we found them at a factory outlet with a very limited selection, they are a matched set and the very models I would have chosen from a wider selection. My daughter has had great success with identical machines. I know that God put that washer and dryer there for me! After doing without my own laundry facilities for three years I will be washing everything in sight just for the pure joy of knowing that I can. :)

I have received some financial gifts, coupons, and gift cards that are a huge help in purchasing things needed for my new home. With these I have already bought lights, ceiling fans, and items for the main bathroom. The living room in my apartment is beginning to look a lot like Lowe's! To all of you who have generously shared with me in this way, "Thank you!"

Even more exciting, closing has been set for Monday, April 16! This is sooner than anticipated, but a very positive development. I am ready to put on my work gloves and get busy. The house still contains a lot of junk that will have to be removed, and there is no lack of cleaning to be done. I will have plenty to do while we get the guys lined up for heavier work. Several ladies have offered to come and help with the cleaning. I am so very blessed!

If all goes as planned, three days from now I will be a homeowner! I stand amazed at God's bountiful provision which is already overflowing into others' lives as extra items are passed along to people who need them. It is so much fun watching God work as each day brings new blessings from Him! Stay tuned...

  1. Yeah Daff!!!
Wish I could home help with the cleaning...well,not really the cleaning part of it but the "dressing up part!" Funny thing...God didn't give me really good cleaning skills or interests....he saved His grace to give me excellent foofing and fussing skills....
So happy to be following you along this part of your journey!
    Onward!
